How can professionals teach their dogs to growl on command?
I've seen YouTube videos of these coaches who teach their growling dogs to order (You Can type in the "wolf growls" for an example). How do they do? PS I have no lesson on how not to train my dog to do this. I'm not. Just looking at the theories on how.
The same way you teach a dog to bark. It takes longer time because most of the dogs growl not only for the fun of it as if they bark. The best way is to catch them when they growl. Usually begin to growl just before barking at someone or something outside. It happens so fast you'll hear the roar that led to a complete shell. When the dog reaches that point growl Praise loudly, so that the dog looks at you instead of going to the cortex, and treat. Having done this a few times say "Grrrr" this will be the command and bare their teeth when you do. This will be his "Physics" for the command signal so you can finally cut the grrr "command". One of my dogs is very easy to teach, because I spoke in a voice Grouch. It is a hole, anyone who has one knows what I mean. I would go "Grrrr, Grrr" in him, and he'd grunt back. I praise and treat. After a while we worked on the growl and show teeth that went with him, and now seems to kill someone but it's a big baby. The other took a while because it is normally a quiet dog. With these dogs, timing is everything. You have to be creative and do what works for your dog.
